SHERI GARBA WITH HELARO - EVENT INFORMATION
TIMING
Doors open: 7:30pm
Event starts: 8:00pm
Last entry: 10:30pm — if you arrive after this, you may need to wait outside until security can let you in
GETTING THERE & PARKING
This year JFS is hosting two garba events at once — Sheri Garba with Helaro (Sports Hall) and Braham Samaj (Main Hall). That means on-site parking is very limited.
- Please use public transport or car-share where you can
- On-site parking should only be used by disabled or elderly guests
- Parking will be available to pre-book, for a fee, closer to the event
- Cars without pre-booked parking won't be let in if the car park is full
- If you do park on-site, security will give you a pass — display it on your dashboard and park only where directed
YOUR TICKETS
- You'll get e-tickets by email when you book
- Bring a printout or have them ready on your phone for check-in
- Booked for a group? Please forward tickets to everyone in your party
DRESS CODE
In the spirit of Navaratri, please wear traditional dress — or at least dress respectfully for the occasion.
PRIZES
Prizes for Best Dressed and Best Garba Player — for both men and women!
FOOD & DRINK
- Food and (non-alcoholic) drink stalls on site
- Bring cash — not all stalls take cards
- Outside food and drink isn't allowed, except baby food or food for special diets
- Please support our stallholders!
OTHER STALLS
Dandiya sticks, traditional clothing and more — cards accepted here.
PHOTOS & FILMING
The event may be filmed or photographed for our Facebook page and future promotions. If you'd rather not be included, please let a YSE staff member know.
HEALTH & SAFETY
- Security will be visible throughout the evening, guiding you at entry and inside the halls
- Expect a short queue at times while tickets are checked
- Please help us use both halls — if you're not playing garba, head to the back of the Main Hall or the food court
- Security may ask people to move between halls to keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone
- Please follow all instructions from security and YSE staff — we may need to ask you to leave if not
- Zero tolerance policy: any swearing, threats, or violence (actual or perceived) will not be tolerated. Abuse toward staff or security means immediate removal
- If our team feels something is unsafe, we may briefly pause the event and clear the hall
- A first aid kit is available — ask a YSE staff member if you need help
- Please note your nearest fire exit on arrival
Please note: it's your responsibility to make sure the event and venue are suitable for you and your family, including children. YSE isn't responsible for injuries caused by not following instructions from staff or security.
BUGGIES & PUSHCHAIRS
- Limited space is available — please use the designated area only
- Never leave buggies in the main hall
- There's no secure storage, so YSE and the school can't take responsibility for loss or damage
ALCOHOL & SMOKING
- No alcohol allowed on site — please don't arrive intoxicated
- Anyone visibly intoxicated will be asked to leave
- No smoking anywhere on JFS School premises
